Our Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna

• High in Protein, Low in Fat
• Highest Quality - Premium Sushi Grade
• Skinless and Boneless
• Wild Caught in the Southwest Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans

Ahi Tuna, also know as Yellowfin Tuna or Maguro, is the most popular sushi grade fish in America. Our Maguro is extremely tender and sweet, making it perfect for sushi and sashimi. One of the healthiest choices among sushi grade fish, our Ahi Tuna is cut from the fish loin (akami), the same used in restaurants for nigiri. Our yellowfin tuna is wild caught and frozen immediately upon leaving the water, ensuring the highest quality product.

Tuna sushi is an excellent selection for making sushi at home. Create a complete sushi dinner with our sushi kit, when combined with salmon sushi, hamachi, or other sushi grade fish.

What is Maguro?

Maguro is the Japanese word for tuna, and most commonly refers to bluefin tuna.  However, more recently, yellowfin tuna is being sold in sushi restaurants as both maguro and ahi tuna.

Maguro has a subtle flavor, tender texture, robust taste, firm flesh, and minimal fat. The best way to appreciate the unmatched flavor of sushi grade tuna is to eat it as raw as possible. Our tender ahi tuna is cut close to fish center, avoiding the chewier tendon in the tail. Our tuna is packaged as frozen "saku blocks" and are boneless and skinless with 100% usage. Each block yields about 20 pieces of nigiri sushi, perfect for you and your sushi-loving friends.

How to serve Sushi Grade Tuna

The best accent to maguro's flavor is a simple combination of soy sauce and wasabi, allowing the purity of the meat to shine through. For variety, try our sushi chef’s recommendation of marinating tuna for 20 minutes in soy sauce to concentrate flavors. Garnish with masago (smelt roe) or ikura (salmon roe) for an impressive display.

Health Benefits of Tuna Sushi

A very healthy choice in sushi grade fish, tuna is incredibly low in fat and high in protein. In a 4-ounce serving of maguro sashimi, there are 120 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 27 grams of protein. No matter how you choose to prepare our delicious tuna sushi, a low fat meal is guaranteed.
